I'm David Karle, a Father, husband, and designer. I labor to create the best experiences possible for my family, my clients and whoever ends up on the other side of my work. I'm not your stereotypical designer. I don't own any turtleneck sweaters, drink exorbitantly priced coffees, or lug a moleskine with me everywhere I go. I'd rather eat meat in middle America than munch on stinky tofu from my downtown West Coast, bio-fueled, socially conscious, urbanite, co-op loft. I believe that design is so much more than people think it should be, which means it's usually less than what they expect it to be. And that principled work is nurtured by living a principled life. Steve Jobs once characterized the late great graphic designer Paul Rand by saying:
"He's a very deep, thoughtful person who's tried to express in every part of his life what his principles are. And you don't meet so many people like that today."
If there's anything I aspire to in career and life, it's that the same could be said of me. Thank you for taking interest in my work.
David
